While the North American mylodont sloth, Parmylodon harlani, has been identified in multiple localities Mexico, most of these records are from southern part country. Consequently, there is a large geographic gap between its distribution Mexico and more northern species United States. The recovery remains individuals Paramylodon as late Pleistocene fauna San Clemente de Térapa, Sonora, partially fills this provides broader understanding differences species’ ecology over wide latitudinal range. A comparison paleoecology Térapa site with other sites P. harlani to south north valuable information on how regional topography different plant communities impact sloth’s underlying causes for extinction.
